Macquarie Centre Goes Green with Simply Cups
Have you seen these green bins around the centre?
Macquarie Centre is a proud Cup Collector supporting the sustainability initiative by Simply Cups, an organisation dedicated to recycling and upcycling paper coffee cups. This partnership aims to reduce our environmental impact as we continue to take steps towards sustainability. We highly encourage positive recycling behaviour within the centre by making it more accessible and convenient for customers.
Due to the plastic inner lining of paper cups, this adds another step in the recycling process and Simply Cups takes the extra effort to responsibly dispose of the rubbish. The cups collected from the Cup Collectors around the centre are transported to their Australian partner facilities to be processed and turned into something new.
The upcycled paper cups are repurposed and turned into composite materials such as asphalt and concrete, and other sustainable building materials. In the past, upcycled items even included reusable coffee cups, reusable plastic trays, and garden beds.
In addition to the cup recycling program, we implement other sustainable initiatives such as the promotion of shopping bags and --. We are commited to environmental resposibility and advocate for sustainable practices within the centre.
